Dear Colleagues,

Weekend Workshop: An Introduction to the Integration of Structural Dissociation, Ego State Therapy and EMDR Therapy

I have already scheduled three US trainings over the next academic year. All workshops will be advertised to all EMDRIA members and on the Western Mass EMDRIA and Private Practice list serves.

  1. Houston, TX (June 29 – July 1, 2019)
  2. Chicago, IL (September 28-30, 2019)
  3. Albuquerque, NM (November 16-18, 2019)

In addition, I am currently running the following groups to facilitate and deepen a clinician’s EMDR work with clients. These advanced seminars typically begin in September and end in June.

Descriptions follow.

  1. Advanced Seminar on Integrating Structural Dissociation, Ego State and EMDR Therapies
  2. Consultation Group on EMDR Treatment of Ego States and Dissociation

I also offer the following that do not follow an academic calendar:

  1. EMDR Basic Training Required Consultation Hours
  2. Individual and Group Consultation for Clinicians becoming EMDRIA Certified Therapists
  3. Individual Consultation

If you’d like to explore whether one of them may be right for you, I hope you’ll email me or call at (413) 256-EMDR (3637).

My Role as a Consultant
I have been an EMDRIA Approved Consultant for the past 12 years. I provide skillful, detailed suggestions and information in a warm and supportive way. You can read comments by some of my group and individual consultees here on my website and I welcome the opportunity to discuss this possibility with you. I usually type transcripts of my consultation sessions and make them available, along with relevant specialized protocols, information and assessment tools, shortly afterwards. In this way, your learning is reinforced and you have access to relevant, additional material that deepens and broadens your skills.

EMDR is the primary focus of my work, as I define myself as a trauma therapist. I routinely integrate Ego State Therapy into my work with clients. We all have many “parts” or aspects of ourselves. But when childhood and adolescent traumas and neglect have been experienced, there are often younger parts of self that respond in ways that are no longer healthy or helpful. Narrative Therapy adds perspective and depth to my therapeutic and consultation work as it helps keep me attuned to the politics of the therapeutic relationship and to the many ways in which we can help clients retell their story of their lives in richer and more fulfilling ways. I am trained in Energy Psychology, specifically in Thought Field Therapy, and may share its relevance in clinical consultation.

1. Advanced Seminar: Integrating Structural Dissociation, Ego State and EMDR Therapies – Earn 30 CEUs!

30 Psychology, Social Work, LMFT and LMHC CEs – as well as 12 EMDRIA CEs (the most you can use in a two-year period) – applied for. They have been approved each year before.

For the twelfth year, I will be offering this exciting and unique Seminar. Level II trained clinicians who regularly use EMDR will have the opportunity to learn and integrate Structural Dissociation, Ego State and EMDR therapies so that they can be more successful in working with clients with Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders. Members will practice and learn to use two core approaches to Ego State work, as well as powerful safety procedures. Didactic presentations and Case Consultation are a part of each month’s three-hour meeting. Assigned articles and session transcripts deepen the learning process. Preference will be given to those who have participated in an EMDR Consultation Group before.

Past participants have come from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, Florida and Nevada.

Registration and more information, including comments from past participants, is available on the blue links below.

The cost is $100/month; $80 for full-time Community Mental Health Clinicians.

Please click here to register for the FRIDAY SESSIONS (9/21/18-6/21/19) of the 2018-2019 Advanced Seminar or here for the TUESDAY SESSIONS (9/11/18-6/11/19) of the 2018-2019 Advanced Seminar.

If you are interested in individual consultation on working with clients with complex trauma and dissociation, please email me at farnsloben@gmail.com.

2. Consultation Group on EMDR Treatment of Ego States and Dissociation

I am delighted again to be offering a Group for those EMDR clinicians who have previously taken some training on these topics. This includes my Advanced Seminar, the Consultation Group offered by George Abbott and Denise Gelinas, or other training in the EMDR treatment of Dissociation and/or Ego States. This Consultation Group will provide you with the opportunity for extensive case consultation on clients with whom you work who have Complex PTSD and/or a Dissociative Disorder. I also provide didactic presentations on innovative protocols, and other advanced approaches of this work.

The cost is $60 per month, $50 for clinicians working 30 or more hours in community mental health.

Feel free to email at farnsloben@gmail.com or call me if you would like to explore if this group is right for you. My phone is (413) 256-EMDR (3637).

Additional Options that are not academic year bound

3. EMDR Basic Training Required Consultation Hours

I have been a Facilitator for the EMDR Institute since 2001 and for EMDR HAP since 2005. I offer individual and small group phone consultation hours, in person or by phone, to enable you to complete the five hours required after Part 1 and after Part 2 EMDR HAP and EMDR Institute trainings. Each session has 3-4 participants. These hours may also be completed individually.

4. Clinicians becoming EMDRIA Certified Therapists

I provide individual and small group consultation for clinicians who want to become EMDRIA Certified therapists. Call me for more information as new groups are forming. You can earn up to 10 of the minimum of 20 hours in a group. If there is not a group you can join now, you can begin with the individual hours that are required. CLICK HERE for a fuller description of the Certification process.

Feel free to email me at farnsloben@gmail.com or call me if you would like to explore if this group is right for you. My phone is (413) 256-EMDR (3637).

5. Individual Consultation

As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant with 14 years of EMDR experience, I provide ongoing consultation to EMDR trained clinicians locally and, by phone, Skype, or VSee with clinicians in many states. EMDR-trained clinicians usually contact me because they want to become EMDRIA Certified, but sometimes the process starts right after Part 1 training, or several years into the work when they realize they are stuck in their work with a client because of complex trauma and dissociation.

As you can see by my offering an Advanced Seminar on the Integration of Ego State Therapy with EMDR for a sixth year, and my EMDR Consultation Group on Ego State Therapy and dissociation, complex trauma and dissociation are areas of expertise for me. Treating children with EMDR is another area of expertise. And, of course, I have broad experience using an EMDR approach to treat depression, anxiety, and some other disorders.

Pay Online for Consultation
If you choose, you can pay online on this website for consultation. Checks are cheerfully accepted as well. After you click “Pay Now”, you will be asked to enter the amount for your fee. You do not need to have a Paypal account to use the Paypal option on my website.
